Several state offices, including Georgia, Mississippi, and Alabama, have alerted business owners regarding spam solicitations offering to obtain a certificate of good standing. These spam mailers are not authorized by the state and are taking advantage of business owners trying to stay compliant. The state office will never send you to a third party to pay for state services. These mailers attempt to appear official and may cite specific statutes or require a fee.
