Effective Monday, December 7, 2020, and at a minimum through the end of December 2020, the CA Secretary of State’s office will temporarily suspend lobby pick-up and expedite/preclearance services. All expedites dropped off on Friday, December 4, 2020, or prior will be processed and mailed back to the submitter upon completion. Additionally, any documents dropped off in the lobby drop box will be returned by mail and not subject to a special handling fee during this time.

During this time:

  • All Expedite/Preclearance services will be suspended until further notice;
  • All paper submissions will be mailed back to the filer and special handling fees will not be required;
  • 72-hour resubmission rule for rejected filings will not be honored.
